If you’re a lawyer practicing in Maryland and looking to grow your online visibility, chances are you’ve considered platforms like Avvo, Justia, and Super Lawyers. But what about LawTally?
LawTally is a lesser-known legal directory that allows attorneys to build a professional profile and be found by potential clients. The site claims to improve SEO by offering a clean profile layout, contact links, and keyword integration tied to your practice areas and location. But is it actually worth listing yourself there?
Pros:
- Simplicity – The interface is clean, user-friendly, and doesn’t require a ton of maintenance.
- SEO Potential – If your profile is indexed by Google, the link may add to your visibility for relevant searches.
- No Review Drama – Unlike some platforms, LawTally doesn’t emphasize user reviews, which can be a double-edged sword.
- Comprehensive Practice Area Categories – LawTally has a longer list of practice area categories to list yourself under than some other referral sites, including Appeals Lawyer.
Cons:
- Limited Traffic – It’s not as widely known as some of the bigger names, so referral volume may be low.
- Indexing Delays – New profiles can take time to show up in Google search results (mine hasn’t yet as of this writing).
- No Customization – The platform is fairly rigid in terms of layout and design.
Final Thoughts
Here’s my profile if you’d like to take a look: Jason Ostendorf on LawTally.
As with most directories, LawTally works best as part of a broader visibility strategy. If you’re already ranking well or getting strong organic traffic, it may just be another small piece of the puzzle.
I’ll be reviewing a few other directory platforms in the coming weeks to help other attorneys evaluate which ones are actually worth their time.
